CNPLaw LLP (“CNP”), previously known as Colin Ng & Partners was established in 1988 by Mr Colin Ng, and practice first began in Robina House in Shenton Way.
On 1 April 2008, the firm was converted into a limited liability partnership, Colin Ng & Partners LLP.
On 16 April 2019, the firm changed its firm name from Colin Ng & Partners LLP to CNPLaw LLP.
Today, CNP is a full-service law firm providing a comprehensive range of legal services to our clients. CNP enjoys a distinguished reputation and is annually endorsed and recommended by professional and commercial publications, including Asialaw Profiles, Chambers and Partners, IFLR1000 and the Legal 500 Asia Pacific, for its expertise in various practice areas.
We have a multi-disciplinary service team of lawyers with experiences in different areas of practice. Some of our lawyers are qualified in or originate from different jurisdictions. CNP has a wide-ranging client base covering private and public companies, high net worth individuals, the public sector, property developers and financial institutions. We support clients in all major Asian markets.
Since 1988, the firm has been driven by its vision of “Delivering Exceptionally Good Service” to its clients. We pride ourselves in delivering innovative and pragmatic solutions and adding value in our services to all our clients.
CNP promotes a friendly working environment where learning and growing is an ongoing process to support our aim of becoming a better firm. We reward individuals based on merit and their contributions to the firm. A flat hierarchy allows us to be flexible and responsive to challenges.
The good working relationships forged across the different practice groups in the firm can be attributed in part, to the efforts of our Recreation Club whose goal is to build a healthy workforce and promote bonding amongst CNPians through sporting and social activities. All who join the firm are initiated into one of four “Houses”, namely Executive Eagles, Super Seals, Tenacious Tigers and Witty Whales. Houses pit themselves in a myriad of recreational events held throughout the year to compete for the Championship title. The Recreation Club is made up of volunteers from all levels of the firm headed by our Managing Partner, Lisa Theng.
As a responsible corporate citizen, CNP believes that the time-honoured traditions of civic and charitable services have a role in the modern-day practice of law. We actively sponsor and encourage participation in pro bono work.
Our Core Values
We have always challenged the outmoded view of what a law firm is and how it operates. Our five Core Values are represented by an acronym, COURT.
Thirst for Success
Our clients (internal and external) are important to us. We want our clients to see us as their key business support and trusted legal partner who is constantly thinking for them. Our service to clients must be marked with excellence at every level – we provide professional quality work, solve problems, are highly responsive and easily accessible to our clients, understand and know our clients’ needs and businesses and create an exceptional experience for them. We will take the extra step and make the extra effort to exceed clients’ expectations.
We value our people and seek to know them beyond the office. We want every person in the firm to be treated with respect and have the opportunity to develop and achieve their highest potential. We encourage open and candid communication at every level and no person in the firm is more important than the other. We will put the highest priority on recruiting, developing and retaining outstanding people and people who exemplify our Core Values and what the firm represents. Authenticity and humility define our relationships.
We are a one-firm-firm where collaboration is not only encouraged but applauded. We constantly strive to break down silos, hierarchy and barriers. We will recognise and reward those who collaborate. We think of the firm before our respective practice groups. Our leaders are expected to be role models of this collaborative culture. We will not be selfish with sharing our experience, resources, people and time. We will celebrate the successes of others in the firm and encourage every person to excel and achieve.
We are not constrained or restricted by what the norm is or what has been done before. We are thinkers and problem solvers. We continually seek to improve and encourage new ideas and fresh perspectives. We are progressive and innovative where change is sought for the betterment of the firm, our clients and our people. We encourage our people to have an entrepreneurial spirit, be bold, different and willing to take risks. We aim to keep things simple and efficient.
Thirst for Success
We are passionate about what we do and are determined to excel and surpass our competition. We are dynamic, energised, fast moving, and decisive with a strong bias for action. We have a deep desire for exponential growth in our knowledge and skill sets and will not stop learning and improving. We set challenging goals and seek to exceed them. We take pride in our work and will hold ourselves and others accountable to achieve our goals.
Have a career with us if you share in our Core Values and have what it takes to add to our diverse talent pool.
CNP’s tagline, “Knowing, Thinking, Solving – Across Asia” stands for the following:
We are lawyers with extensive and in-depth knowledge of the law and make it a point to know our clients’ businesses and needs. It is also important to us that we know and care for our people.
Our people are thinkers. Our minds are always active and fresh and innovative ideas are encouraged. We think for the benefit of our clients and our firm.
We consistently apply the breadth and depth of our knowledge and our ideas to solve problems. We develop effective and efficient solutions both for our clients and our firm.
Our experience and practice go beyond Singapore. We have an extensive international network but our focus is on Asia. We help clients expand their businesses across Asia.
